Monster Energy press release regarding Buckworth's Bronze

ANDY BUCKWORTH SCORES BMX FREESTYLE BIG AIR BRONZE. The 19 Year Old Podiums in His First X Games Ever

Monster Energy's Andy Buckworth surprised all with a well-earned bronze medal in BMX Freestyle Big Air at X Games 16, unveiling his double front flip on one run and a superman front flip on another run. It was his first podium in his first X Games‹the 19 year old from Australia was youngest rider in the field as the event took over the L.A. Memorial Coliseum.

While it was the double front flip over the big gap that gave Buckworth the podium, also very notable was the superman front flip he pulled on his second run.

About his trick selection in the finals, Buckworth said, "I definitely knew I was going to double frontie, but I didn't think it would have to be on the long gap. I thought I would be chillin' in my first X Games! But, I got the feeling I would have to step it up, so I went to the high side [of the drop in], and just thought,"hit 'em with it!"

Buckworth continued, "I couldn't be more psyched! It's just the most amazing honor to be invited to X Games 16, and to walk away with a medal is just the cherry on the cake."
