Telekom Summer Session with Barbero

The annual Telekom Summer Session in Hamburg, Germany is going to take place this Sunday. Originally Harry Main was also on the invited riders list but Harry just got off the crutches and isn't riding yet. But we've got Alessandro Barbero on the mini ramp at the event which is filmed live for MTV in Germany and available on the web:

On August 29th, 2010 the Wakeboard Arena Pinneberg/Hamburg will be once again the international epicenter of the wakeboard and wakeskate world. The BMX guys will start in the Miniramp category with top riders Mark Webb and Ben Wallace spearheading the contest.

But that´s not all, to give the Telekom Playgrounds the real festival attitude reggae master Gentleman, ska-punk heroes Sublime with Rome and cult punk rockers Millencolin will play full live open air concerts.

Apart from Gentleman the bands can be viewed via live stream here on the Mirra Bike Co website.

Ryan Guettler under the knife. News from Ryan.

Wow what a crazy year 2010 has been.

As many of you know, I crashed badly at the Chicago Dew Tour doing a 540. From the crash I suffered a 3rd degree separation on my left shoulder. This only aggravated years of abuse and past injuries to the point that time and basic rehab will not heal the injury to extent I need.

Since the Chicago Dew Tour, I’ve ridden in the X Games, HB US Open, and Portland Dew Tour with the injury. Unfortunately now with both shoulders popping out every time I ride, I decided to get X-rays & MRI to find out how to fix what’s going on.

I’ve been told by sports doctors the only way to fix the problems with my shoulders, so I can compete without any issues, is to get surgery and have them repaired. Therefore, I will undergo surgery this week. Then I will be fully recovered by end of this year as I’ve been told that it is 4 months of rehab post surgery. That will put me in a good position to return for the start of next season with a healthy body allowing me to compete at 100% once again.

I hate that it’s came to this, but I can’t keep riding with this injury and need it fixed now.

I’ll keep you updated with how the surgery and rehab is going. As I go through the recovery period I will make a concerted effort to stay involved as much as possible with BMX in other ways to continue to create value for all my sponsors.

Thanks for all your support!

Talk soon,

-Ryan Guettler

An update by Trans Am owner Kyle Baldock

The weekend that just passed I found myself 4 hours away from Greenville in a town known as Charlotte. They had set up an awesome park course in a parking lot in the middle of town. There were many Aussies out there riding and absolutley shredding. The weather was extremley humid but we just went out there and made the most of it. We were split into groups, then rode the course in a train like manner.

I ended up placing first and winning an '88 Trans Am. All in all it was one of the best comps I have rode in this year, the format and riders in the comp were just great!

We all had a long day and a very long drive back to Greenville, the trip was well worth it.

Why Mirra didn't ride Park at the X-Games

For all those wondering why Dave Mirra didn't ride bmx this year at the x-games here is the explanation from Mirra himself: "I slammed pretty hard in practice at the Dew Tour in Chicago the day before finals. I tweaked my back so I decided to pull out of park this year. I figured since rally is less physical I would focus on the two rally events. Sorry and I will be back real soon."

Monster Energy press release regarding Buckworth's Bronze

ANDY BUCKWORTH SCORES BMX FREESTYLE BIG AIR BRONZE. The 19 Year Old Podiums in His First X Games Ever

Monster Energy's Andy Buckworth surprised all with a well-earned bronze medal in BMX Freestyle Big Air at X Games 16, unveiling his double front flip on one run and a superman front flip on another run. It was his first podium in his first X Games‹the 19 year old from Australia was youngest rider in the field as the event took over the L.A. Memorial Coliseum.

While it was the double front flip over the big gap that gave Buckworth the podium, also very notable was the superman front flip he pulled on his second run.

About his trick selection in the finals, Buckworth said, "I definitely knew I was going to double frontie, but I didn't think it would have to be on the long gap. I thought I would be chillin' in my first X Games! But, I got the feeling I would have to step it up, so I went to the high side [of the drop in], and just thought,"hit 'em with it!"

Buckworth continued, "I couldn't be more psyched! It's just the most amazing honor to be invited to X Games 16, and to walk away with a medal is just the cherry on the cake."

More on Buckworth and X Games 16 can be found at www.monsterenergy.com
