Snow drifting with Dave Mirra

Dave Mirra took 2nd overall in a 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STi last weekend at the first stage of the rally America championships. Here are his words:

"What a weekend in northern Michigan at sno drift. I finished 2nd overall, first in class after 130 miles through the forest and a tire puncture. I really had no moments other than the tire change that costs us 4 minutes. I started slow and by the end of day 2 I found a comfortable pace that got me to the finish without a scratch on the car."

Provisional Class Winners - Saturday, January 29, 2011

Overall: 1. Hanson/Hanson, 2. Mirra/Clarke, 3. Burke/Kihurani
Open Class: 1. Mirra/Clarke 2. Burke/Kihurani, 3. Moyle/Barton

Yeah, another 2 weeks then it will be back on the road with Nitro Circus

How will your bike come across with the circus crowd you think?
Andy:
I think it will stand out pretty well.

Do you care about the looks of your bike?
Andy:
Of course.

Are you picky on how it rolls?
Andy:
Yeah I'm really picky on how it rolls. I hate when my bike isn't running properly.

What tire pressure do you run when you roll down the big roll in?
Andy:
My tyres are always running at about 95 to 100 psi.

What are the modifications you made to your bike?
Andy:
I cut my bars down a little bit but other than that I just put it together how it comes.

Dillon Schumann at 9th street trails

What's the need for all these models in the Mirraco line? Well, it means that there's a bike for you in there. Making the step from a 16 inch wheeled bike to a bike with 20" wheels is often too big to take. That's where the 18 inch ride comes in. With the kid growing so fast, he might outgrow it in a few years but at least he will have a bike that fits him and keeps him riding bikes. Size matters.

We received a mail with a photo from a happy customer:

"Here is a pic of 9 year old Dillon Schumann from Round Rock, Texas busting the 9th street trails on his Mirraco 18" bike. Thank you for making a great product and we can't wait to make the move to a new mirraco 20"."

Shaun Paques (9) beats cancer. On a Mirraco bike now.

Three years ago, Shaun and his twin brother Justin were competing in a BMX race when Shaun wrecked his bike. Not one to let anything stop him, Shaun hopped back on his bike and finished the race. Afterward, Shaun began to feel faint and his parents took him to the hospital. Shaun received a CAT scan, which found spots on his spleen and liver. A liver biopsy revealed the spots were angiosarcoma, an extremely rare type of cancer.

Initially Shaun and Justin were afraid their bikes were to blame for Shaun's cancer, but once they learned more about the disease, Shaun and his family recognized that the accident had helped them to find his cancer before it was too late.

Now that Shaun is cancer free and his hospital stays are behind him, his days are filled with school and riding his bike at his beloved BMX track with his brother. Shaun's energy seems never-ending to his parents, and it is obvious he is living life to the fullest.

Shaun was also recently selected as one of the five St. Baldrick's Foundation 2011 Ambassador Kids. Each year St. Baldrick's, a nonprofit dedicated to raising funds for childhood cancer research, honors five kids for their brave fight against childhood cancer and contributions to help find a cure. The Ambassador Kids represent the more than 160,000 kids touched by childhood cancer each year and the startling reality that one in five kids diagnosed will not survive. Shaun was chosen
because of his resilient attitude and his ability to get back up each time cancer made him fall. Shaun is the perfect inspiration for others!
