Mirra injury update

Dave Mirra had a big slam doing a superman seatgrab at the last Dew Tour stop in Salt Lake City, Utah. He bruised his sternum, dislocated his right thumb and suffered a broken pinky finger in his other hand. Here's an update:

"So, I ended up getting surgery after my crash in Salt Lake. Dr Hasty put 5 screws and a plate in my left pinky knuckle. I was laughing at the fact I was going in for pinky surgery."

A "get well soon" goes out to Dave.

Mirra supports the ARF. Watch the clip to support it too.

Life can change in a second... and Stephen Murray knows that better than anybody... On the morning of June 22, 2007, Stephen was one of the best BMX'ers in the world. By the end of the day, he was paralyzed from the shoulders down - suffering a catastrophic fall while competing in BMX Dirt finals at the Baltimore stop of the Dew Tour. Following this injury that was felt throughout the action sports community and spearheaded by Founder Aaron Cooke, the Athlete Recovery Fund (ARF) was born - providing professional athletes in BMX, FMX and Skateboarding with medical guidance and financial support for rehabilitation and long-term care.

Action sports superstars including Ryan Sheckler, Dave Mirra and Mike Spinner, recently teamed up to help Ball Park Franks create a video to benefit ARF. The video paints a picture of the assistance ARF provides to injured athletes like Stephen Murray and 19-year-old Craig Mast, who was injured last month in Portland while competing at the Dew Tour (and has since recovered with the help of ARF).

To show its support for the action sports community, Ball Park will donate $1 for every person that watches the video below - up to $100,000 dollars!

An update from Harry Main. He's back!

So the end of injury time is here! I'm finally back riding the bike! My physio has told me I will have made a full recovery within 4-6 weeks, as it will gradually get better as I'm getting into my riding and working hard in physio! I feel so good to be back riding! I feel more motivated than I ever have and feel like I'm ready to make things happen!

I'm working harder than I ever have in physio and am so exicted to make a full recovery in the next few weeks! Then I will be filming another web video and my first contest back will be T-mobile Extreme Playgrounds in December.

"I'm cumming back hard! and promise to bounce back harder than ever!"

Nigel in Japan

Nigel goes all day. We know that by now. But how does he do it? Is it really the Gatorade he's been drinking? One thing's for sure, he isn't slowing down one bit. Here's a photo from the latest RIDEBMX mag of Nigel in Japan.

If you want to learn more about Nigel and Gatorade, all you have to do is visit the www.nigelridesallday.com website.

Harry Main back on the bike

Good news for the Harry Main fans, and for Harry himself of course. He's gotten the green light to start riding again. His broken leg has healed and the first foot jams are in the pocket. Harry is still taking it easy though and needs to go to physical therapy a few times a week to get his leg back to 100%. Now that the season is in full swing, there's no rush either for the Brit. Better get back when things are healed than pushing it. It's hard to do if all you want to do is ride but it's longer for the long run. Don't expect any new web clips from Harry next week but once all is good he'll be going full throttle. You know what that means for a rider like Harry.

Check the new issue of RIDE BMX. Harry answered your questions.

Barbero qualifies in 2nd, then pulls out.

The 2010 Rebeljam took place over the weekend in Portimao, Portugal. The event was moved to Portugal after three successful episodes at the Mellow Park in Berlin, Germany. Sure, the sure was there, loads of riders made it over and the organisation crew had built some new trails and a brand new park for the pro contest.

With 76 pros in the park class and 16 riders making it to the finals it wasn't an easy task for everyone. Alessandro Barbero was on fire though and fired out trick after trick to finish on second place. This gave him a spot into Sunday's main event.

When Sunday appeared, Alessandro was sick in bed and wasn't able to ride, unfortunately, giving his spot to the next rider in line (Corey Martinez). A get well goes out to the Italian who doesn't have much time to get better as the next round of the Dew Tour is coming up this weekend in SLC.

Qualifying results rebeljam 2010, Portugal:

1. Michael Beran 21 Czech 89,60
2. Alessandro Barbero 27 Italy 89,00
3. Ben Hennon 22 UK 87,80
4. Bruno Hoffmann 17 Germany 87,60
5. Daniel Wedemeijer 20 Netherlands 85,60
6. Simone Barraco 19 Italy 85,20
7. Isaac Lesser 20 UK 85,00
8. Sergio Layos 25 Spain 85,00
9. Brian Hunt 25 USA 84,80
10. Gary Young 27 USA 83,80
11. Tobias Wicke 28 Germany 82,00
12. Kevin Kalkoff 23 France 81,60
13. Diogo Santos 20 80,20
14. Jack Marchant 79,80
15. Markus Braumann 26 Germany 79,40

Kyle Baldock wins in Korea!

After a long 14 hour flight I arrived at Seoul Airport at 5:30 pm giving me little time to recover from jetlag and prepare for practice the next morning. At the event there were foam pits and resis to practice on, vert ramps and a great park course. The weather was humid and the sun was showing no mercy, during practice I did a flair turndown and came off and thought I had refractured my foot. I went back to the hotel and iced it hoping it was going to hold up for prelims.

I got to prelims at about 2 pm for a 30 min practice. There were 20 riders and each were given two 45 second runs. For my first run I played it safe so for my 2nd run I could throw out the bangers to increase my score. I ended up pulling my first ever triple whip, I was so stoked. There were many great riders from all over the world. The top 10 riders qualified for finals, I went into finals qualifed first.

The next day I got to the event for finals and KXF informed us that there was a hurricane coming so finals got cancelled so the placings stayed as people qualified for finals. I ended up taking out First place, Kittachai W from Thailand took out second place and Aj Anaya took out third place.

All in All it was a great time and an awesome competition looking forward to going again next year.
