First and second for Kyle Baldock at BMX Games

Over in Australia the BMX Games took place this weekend. Mirraco's Kyle Baldock had quite a weekend over there winning the Pro street/park class and getting second behind the 2010 Dew Tour dirt winner Brandon Dosch in the Pro dirt competition. Congratulations to Mr. Baldock!

We fired over some questions to Kyle:

First in Pro street, second in Pro dirt, quite an amazing BMX Games comp for you this year right?
Kyle:
This year has been amazing, Bmx games was a great comp for me. I was up against some really good riders in both park and dirt, with a lot of big bangers been thrown out.

Are the BMX Games one of the biggest BMX Freestyle comps in Australia?
Kyle:
BMX in Australia is unfortunately dying out but with big comps like BMX Games it's putting Australia back on the BMX scene! It is definitely a great event to compete in.

What are some of the tricks you did in dirt and street/park that you were stoked on?
Kyle:
Considering I don't ride dirt at all I was pretty stoked on qualifying 3rd and coming out to take second place. I pulled out a whip to whip back on the last jump and corked 7 another.
Went into park finals qualifying first, I was stoked that I triple whipped the box and whip catch whip it as well.

What's next on your program?
Kyle:
I have a few big competitions overseas coming up, the first being the Asia X games, then Dew Tour and also Fise. I'm heading over to Greenville in the next couple of months to catch up with Ryan Guettler. I'm looking forward for some other big comps coming up too, it's going to be a great year.

Nigel featured on ESPN website

The definition of being a BMX pro doesn't really exist. To some it's winning pro contests living off of the competition prize purses. To others it's riding the trails every day living on the dole.
But being "on salary" gets you closer to the pro status. Nigel Sylvester has reached that status not by winning contests, but by being professional and following his heart. The folks at ESPN have a good article on it on their website that you should read.

This link will take you there.

Get More G's: Subaru commercial with Dave Mirra

Subaru Commercial Get More G's: Wet Track, starts with a fence topped with barbwire, a sign reading "Authorized Personnel Only." A man unlocks the chain link fence, and a water truck is spraying a closed course area. A silver 11MY WRX STI drives through the course and we see Dave Mirra is driving the vehicle through the wet track.

A boy has parked his bicycle and is standing outside the fence watching the STI in action. Quick cuts from the driver's perspective, the exterior and interior of vehicle racing through course. Close-up of boy's amazement as he watches the professional driver drift through the course. Geez! exclaims the boy. Geez! exclaims the Dave Mirra.

Chris Hughes on the cover of BMX Plus! magazine

Getting the cover of a BMX magazine is always rad. Hard to achieve but rewarding when it shows up. Here's the new BMX Plus! cover which has Chris Hughes on the front page. No, he's not falling off his bike, he's doing a body spin and gets back on it. A trick not too many people can do, but Chris can and it got him a covershot. Sweet.

Andy Buckworth has joined the circus

The Nitro Circus is on tour in New Zealand this month. On board is Mirraco's Andy Buckworth. The X-Games mega air medalist is doing shows with fellow BMX riders Jaie Toohey and Steve McCann and a whole bunch of lunatics on dirt bikes, wheel chairs, ice chests, etc.
It's a big show and when the spotlights in the stadium go on, there's no stopping the riders. To win bonus money, the riders on the crew need to push their own limits. Andy did so by pulling a no-handed double front flip. That's an extra 500 bucks in the pocket, and a new trick in the bag.

Good times are had on the road. A few more shows are on the program for New Zealand. Then it's off to Australia. If you want to catch up with Andy, you've got to find your way to the circus.

Barbero wins in Germany.

You don't get to see too many airports which have a miniramp set up in the terminal, but it happened in Duesseldorf, Germany last weekend. Lufthansa had the "Braun Spine" ramp set up at the airport and plenty of riders found the ramp and rode at the comp.

After qualifying in 4th place, Mirraco rider Alessandro Barbero stepped it up on the final day and rode the way he wanted to. Things felt good and Ale ended up with the win. Congrats to the Italian.
