Chris Hughes in ART mag

Normally magazines don't print pictures of riders not pulling a trick. But this photo of Chris Hughes looked too good not to run it. No, he did not pull it, as was described in the caption, but it would have been the cliffhanger flip of the century.

-Magazine: ART
-Issue: #4 September/October 2011
-Country: France
-Page: 33
-Rider: Chris Hughes
-Photographer: Christian van Hanja
-Event: ASA Mega Ramp, California, USA.

Mirraco ad for Kyle Baldock

Our Oz distributor (BMX International) has reason to be stoked on Australian Kyle Baldock. The Aussie has made an impact on the comp scene in 2011 so far and with one more round of the Dew Tour coming up in Las Vegas in a few weeks, things could even be brighter. BMX International have decided to use Kyle for the next magazine ads that they're going to place in the Australian magazines. This is what it will look like.

Kenny:
Tires, grips, pedals, tubes & brake cables.

What sort of riding do you do most of the time?
Kenny:
Mix of everything, park, vert, street, some flatland and a little breakdance.

Any special reason for the soft seat?
Kenny:
I like it because when you are waiting to do a run you can relax a little.

Nice sticker on the fork steerer tube!
Kenny:
Thanks! It was going to be a naked girl, when I spin the bars 1/2 she'd be in a bikini, spin 1/2 more and she'd be naked ha ha. My kids might not understand.

Are you picky on how the bike rolls?
Kenny:
Yes, I treat it like a jet airplane, all systems have to work.

What tire pressure do you run?
Kenny:
95-100 psi

What are the modifications you made to your bike?
Kenny:
I had a friend make special chain tensioners so that the wheel tracks perfect, no bolts to adjust.

Thanks to: Mirraco bikes, Mike Russell, Jean-Luc, everyone else at Mirraco, thanks to Matt at Profile racing and DMC; go Chiefs they need it.

Chris Hughes edit

Making web edits can be a rough job. Fortunately Chris Hughes did not have to travel far to get this one done. Between Mirra's place and the JC Park most of these clips were filmed. Chris could focus on the tricks he wanted to do, and he pulled off some awesome bangers. Check the clip below.

Austin Coleman Air in the Square videos. NY.

Mirraco riders make it to the most awesome events. They travel the world to participate at contests and experience new lifestyles. Sometimes they end up in unique places, places you would normally not expect ramps to be set up, like Times Square in New York City. Austin Coleman was there and will have a different memory of the place whenever he walks by that place in the future.

The riding. Austin Coleman and the rest of the participants at the Air in the Square event:

Andy Buckworth in Maxim magazine

Maxim magazine did an article on the X-Games and called it: Xtreme, Xciting, Xceptional. The focus was on the Australian athletes and one of them was Andy Buckworth. Although not actively involved in X-17, interviewing Andy made perfect sense as he'd shown his worth and was on the injury list at the time which was part of the article. Check the page with Andy's interview in Maxim.

Kyle Baldock wins Big Air Best Trick comp

It was a wild night for BMX at the Dew Tour in Salt Lake City. After an amazing dirt contest the Dirt building crew lead by TJ Lavin came in and adjusted the first set of the course a little for a Best Trick "Big Air" session. Winner takes all. On the line: $ 5,000.= and bragging rights.

Mirraco's Andy Buckworth and Kyle Baldock jumped straight in there and gave it all they got. The crashes on some of the attempts could not stop the young Australians and again and again they climbed back on top of the starting platform to give it another go. Both riders pushed the level and when everything was over, Kyle Baldock was announced as the winner of the first Big Air Dirt comp at the Dew Tour. Sick!

Ride With Chris Hughes Edit

Chris Hughes flew up to meet Devin Szmata from Ernie's Sports Experts in Grande Prairie AB. They rode the local park and then made their own park at the shop. Good times were had by all. They really nailed it with the weather - now it's cold again up there. Here's the video of the happening:

Chris Hughes of Mirraco and Dew Tour fame stopped in Grande Prairie between competitions to ride the local scene and put on a couple shows at Ernie's Sports Experts.

Chris was joined by Peace Country native and Ernie's BMX guru, Devin Szmata, who's also on a Mirraco.

The weather was perfect and over 100 local BMX'ers enjoyed hanging out with Chris and Devin over the weekend.
