2nd and 3rd for Ryan Guettler in Germany

The Dirt comp in Germany just finished. Ryan Guettler got second place in the "360 contest" where riders had to do a 360 rotation (with whatever variation they picked) on the last jump. After the 10 minute jam session Ryan got 2nd with a 360 double whip.

In the regular contest the finals consisted of the following riders: Ryan Nyquist, Ryan Guettler, Corey Bohan and Rob Darden. Two runs each, best run counts. Ryan's best run was his superman flip over the first jump, followed by a double whip on the second set to 720 over the last jump. Good for 3rd place.

Barbero wins in France!

The FISE Experience contest series has started. The cool thing about the series is that they're giving a Fiat car to the overall BMX winner of the series. Last year Maxime Charveron received a brand new Fiat Panda 4X4 but this year there are more riders who have set their minds on that car. The series is long but Alessandro Barbero started it off right by winning the first round. He pulled a triple whip on a mellow quarterpipe which helped with the points. Congrats Alessandro!

BMX PRO Results Auron ski station, Fise Experience stop 1:

1 - Alessandro BARBERO - 500 points

2 - Justin FOUQUE - 450 points

3 - Fabien FRANCOIS- 400 points

4 - Jean-Baptiste PEYTAVIE - 350 points

5 - Simone BARACO - 300 points

6 - Georgy DOREMUS - 250 points

7 - Barry KHONE - 200 points

7 - Morgan LAHAIE - 200 points

8 - Nicolas BADET - 170 points

9 - Geoffey THIBAUD- 140 points

10 - Carleto - 110 points

Next stop of the FISE EXPERIENCE will take place in Le Havre (north of France) from 8 - 10 May.

Session BMX mag

The March issue of Session BMX magazine has a whole lot of Mirraco coverage. Both Alessandro Barbero and Ryan Guettler received a full page from a T-Mobile Playground contest in Berlin, Germany and Dave Mirra got a photo from the Interbike tradeshow in Las Vegas. On top of that there's an article on Ryan Guettler's backyard. This overview gives you an idea of what Ryan wakes up to every morning. At least when he's home. It took ages to build but with so many lines it's hard to get bored. The building process has not ended though so expect new sections whenever people are in town that want to build some ramps.

Barbero at Woodward East. Short clip.

Woodward might be closed for the season for most, but not for Alessandro Barbero. The Italian Mirraco rider has had the privilege to ride at camp during the harsh Italian winters. It helps him stay in shape and it helps him progress. A new clip showed up on Vimeo of Barbero having another session at Camp.

Alessandro received an invite for the first round of the Dew Tour and also was invited for an LG comp in Chicago at the end of the month. Lots of riding pays off.

Dave Mirra on going brakeless

Here is a photo of Dave Mirra's new brakeless bike. Why this move you ask? Read on.

When did you decide to take your brakes off?
I was powdering up a new frame and when I was putting it back together I just decided to leave the brakes off. I have always wanted to try it but never followed through with it.

What tricks won't you be able to do now that you don't have brakes?
To be honest, the only thing I can't do yet is fufanu tricks. The first day was a mystery because I have always used my brakes for certain tricks like tailwhips, spin tricks and tucking the lever for nohanded 360's. I adapted immediately and actually learned tuck 3's without the lever. It is a totally new feeling. It's like your parents saying go ahead and take the car alone for the first time.

How much cooler do you think your bike looks now?
I really like how simple and clean my bike looks plus all of the extra rattling is gone. "for now"

No more lever to get stuck in?
That too!

No more brakes to dial in?
Oh yeah. That too!

What's with the new colour?
I have been into the powder again so you might see a few more pretty soon. I just learned a few new tricks with the gun so I am pretty psyched on the recent color changes.

Have you gotten into problems yet riding brakeless? (forgot you had no brakes...)
I actually went to the "Unit" last week and you can imagine how crazy it is but without brakes for your first time it's pretty gnarly. Really, really fast. So, I missed a line and had to aim for a tight bowl corner and almost blew off the back of the bike. I was like a run away train but on a bike. hahahha

Is it still a challenge for you or are you already used to riding brakeless?
It's definitely a challenge but an interesting one for sure.
